And by “ridiculous” I mean ‘AWESOME”. Looks like a plain-Jane Tahoe, lowered a bit, with some aftermarket wheels, but there’s a little more to it than that...

Those look like OEM+ wheels. 2012ish Tahoe wheels. OEM+ is absolutely my favorite way to upgrade a car.

TBH an LS9 swap is a better way to upgrade a car :)
They really tried to keep this thing looking as stock as possible - I think the only reason they went with 20s was to fit the giant brake rotors.

That is perfection. The miles are so low the doors haven’t sagged!

They also fill out the wheel arches nicely.

ha- is that a thing with these? Have to admit I’m not that familiar with them.

I’m sure you could easily fill any remaining gaps with tire smoke.

We probably need to determine the validity of that hypothesis.

So I’ve been down this road, big motor in a GMT400, wouldn’t recommend. Sure its a lot of fun to peel up the road, but thats about all its got going for it.

I could see where this would get old quickly, but I love the idea of it, and gawking at it from afar.

Perhaps a PNW Oppo can take care of that for us.

that motor has to be worth more than the entire tahoe by itself

Yeah, pretty much. Will be interesting to see the sale price - if it sells.
Won’t come anywhere near what it cost to build, but the seller readily admits that, at least.

LS9 is technically another OEM+ upgrade. I approve. Just like how we want to stick a 2UZ in a FJ40. That is definitely OEM+.
![]() 06/06/2018 at 16:21 |

Ha yeah - in that case I’m right there with you.
And I can think of a lot of older Toyotas and Lexuses that would be fantastic with a 2UZ...

All the older Toyota and Lexi!

I never thought I would need that body style Tahoe in my life but here I am. I NEEDS IT! GIB NAO!

It retains a transfer case and 4wd, this thing is awesome.

hehe - did you listen to the engine on the video?
![]() 06/06/2018 at 16:37 |

And will still do burnouts...

I am curious if it’s the stock transfer case, seeing as all the other drivetrain components have been upgraded.

Funny, that’s about the only driveline item not mentioned in the writeup, unless I missed it.

Real bad. Next time you see a truck of this era take a look at the body line on the door compared to the body.

I think those wheels are off a gmt800 Yukon or Escalade
![]() 06/06/2018 at 17:39 |

I think you may be right. The whole look hides what lies beneath the hood pretty well though.

Neither. Current gen Silverado.

/me glances in the direction of my dad’s amazingly clean 99 Tahoe.... It’s a good thing I don’t have the money for such shenanigans.
![]() 06/07/2018 at 09:03 |

It’s for the best - this seller will only get a fraction of what he put in it back.
![]() 06/07/2018 at 09:13 |

True, but for most people building something like this, I’ll bet they didn’t actually intend on ever selling it.
Like for me, my dream is to someday pick up an 80's GM B body wagon and drop a modern powertrain into it. Preferably a Buick LeSabre. It would be worth heroically less than it will cost to build, but I would be building it for myself with the intent of keeping it basically forever.

I was thinking chrome finished next gen Tahoe/Suburban:
